Story Cottage
This sweet cottage in the picturesque mountain town of Marshall was built c. 1850. Story Cottage is a treasure of a getaway adjacent to the Colonel Lawrence M. Allen House, built in 1849, the oldest building on Main Street. A stay in Story Cottage puts you steps from everything in downtown Marshall. Walk out your door for coffee, local art, eclectic shopping, dinner, local beer, a glass of wine on the riverfront deck at the Old Marshall Jail or a sunset stroll along the bridge. You’ll love it!
There is one bedroom with a queen size bed and a fold out sofa sleeper in the living room. The bath includes the original stone floor and a clawfoot tub/shower combo. The living room is spacious with vaulted ceiling and a dining nook with a table for two in the corner. The kitchen is quaint but with everything you need to cook and make coffee. The stove and refrigerator are small. There is a private back porch to enjoy nature or a front porch to watch the meanderings of downtown.
Guest access
You are walking distance to everything in downtown Marshall.
Other things to note
The cottage is part of the oldest property in Marshall and one of the few buildings to survive the flood of 1916. The history is included in a guestbook on the coffee table along with brochures of area sights and experiences.
